ABOUT OLIVIA THE STORM
A singer-songwriter and performer based in Nelson, BC, Canada, I have classical voice training and started performing musical theatre at the age of six. At 13 I picked up guitar, at 18 started writing my own music and in 2014 I released my first full-length studio album as OK Sister, a collaborative project with my sister.
The release of this album, a snapshot of a decade of my life through music, was the beginning of a period for me at the age of 28 that would involve becoming intimately acquainted with Saturn's Return. The release of this second project, a solo EP on acoustic guitar released as Olivia the Storm, symbolizes the end of this 5-year period, all the things I've lived and learned along the way and the start of something new and unknown and beautiful.
Inspired by campfire folk, 90s feminist rock and grunge and fuelled by the fire of personal experience and life with no filter, my music communicates the deep emotion I feel that often lives right at my surface, my outer edge - ready to show itself at any moment.
I hope you are able to support independent music and download my EP here when it's released in January 2020 (this allows me to make more of a cut for my music from the big guys)!
